Nels Lindquist
As the Visual Storytelling Manager with Wisconsin Conservation Voters, Nels travels the state to create videos, sharing the stories of Wisconsinites who are working to protect the environment and make a more sustainable future.
My Story
I grew up in Marquette, Michigan, a small port town on the shores of Lake Superior. My earliest memories are of times spent running around in the woods or hanging out on the beach with my sisters. Nature has always held a central place in my life as a thing full of wonder. It’s fair to say I’ve felt strongly about conservation and ecology since childhood.
As long as I can recall, I’ve also loved working with cameras and using them to tell stories. Since I was about five, I’ve never stopped making all sorts of videos. After graduating from high school, I moved to New York to study film at Columbia University, graduating with my bachelor’s degree in film and media studies. I then moved back to the Midwest, working in television and marketing. Additionally, I founded my own video production company, I’m Cold Productions, where I direct music videos for regional artists.
In 2024, I moved to Milwaukee and discovered an opportunity to work as the in-house videographer for Wisconsin Conservation Voters, in the role of Visual Storytelling Manager. This position perfectly combines environmental stewardship and videography. I’m privileged to be able to travel the state of Wisconsin to meet all kinds of incredible people who are working to create a more sustainable future, and to use my skill set to help tell their stories.
